It is year 1937 while the story of a young woman, lover, agent, or maybe a traitor takes place. The story of a woman recruited by Polish pre-war intelligence and German military intelligence told by my grandparents, seen through their eyes, described in their words. The beginning of 1937 meant nothing for Helena herself, but everything has changed after the arrival at Kolberg which sets new paths in her existence. A turbulent romance with a young German Abwehr officer is interrupted by the outbreak of the war. That requires her to face decisions that she had never, ever expected before in her life. Fear of exposure, danger, lust and secrets. Is it really worth dying for it all? Will Helena ultimately be on the worthy side?
FROM THE BEGINNING...
Remigiusz Spolny was born in Węglewice on the Prosna River. He spent most of his life in Wroclaw. Student of art history at the University of Wroclaw.
A humanist, a man eager for knowledge, an attentive observer of reality, a chiromancer. In the competition organized by the publishing house Zysk i S-ka, his first novel, Niemoc, received an award and in 1998 it was published.
In 2001, his second novel, "Spider's Web", was published. Two years later, the novel "Neighbors" was published. This is a special position in the author's work. In 2007, the novel "Resurrected" was published. The detective story "Wtopa", another novel by the author, was available online on the website. The latest novel, "Desperatka", Volume I, subtitled "War", was published in 2021. Continuation of this novel, Volume II,

The protagonist of the novel is a woman with a complicated life - lost and unhappy. She is still trying to find the right place for herself in the world and seeks for happinesses. Escape into alcohol and random affairs create her illusion. Aldona, surrounded by fear of everyday life, moves in an unreal world. Brutal rape brings her back to reality, forcing her to reflect. The book "Niemoc" received an award in 1997 in a competition for a contemporary Polish novel.
PAJĘCZYNA
The protagonist of the novel, a retired UB officer - Ryszard Kaliński, "Grandfather" - experiences an undefined sense of fear and emptiness because of his life so far. He wants to leave something behind. Wandering in search of a deeper meaning, he finds "Ogrodnik", a tramp selling flowers in the underground passage of Wrocław. She decides to join him in order to experience a new incarnation and look at the world from a completely different perspective. He discovers the unknown face of the social margin. This world gives him a chance for a love he never really experienced, and at the same time it envelops him with its brutality. "Grandpa" lived a peaceful but purposeless life in the countryside. Now he has a more meaningful life, but he becomes embroiled in the criminal world. He is experiencing love and danger. Will he dare a relationship with a young girl who is looking not only for a friend in him? Will he have time to experience the feeling he craves and runs away from?
ZMARTWYCHWSTAŁY
The protagonist of the book Wiesiek, a Jew born in Warsaw, was imprisoned at Majdanek, Treblinka, and the Lublin and Warsaw ghettos. He accomplished an unbelievable feat - he managed to escape from the camps seven times. After the war, he settled in Wałbrzych, where he worked as a dentist. The author shows the fate of the main character after the end of the war, where reality intertwines with the past and he tries to find himself, to realize everything he dreamed about during the captivity.
SĄSIADKI
"Neighbors" presents the life story of two women, one of whom is struggling with cancer. The protagonist, despite such a terrible diagnosis, does not give up and ultimately wins this fight. The book is intended, on the one hand, to make you aware of the problems and threats related to cancer in the modern world, and on the other, to show that this disease does not always end in death. All written in accessible language exudes optimism and a cheerful mood. By showing the dramaturgy of the situation, the author tries to make readers aware of the need to fight, he gives hope.
